Most women have their ideal accessories. Some would love to wear special earrings, headbands, bracelets, and whatnot. But, there are also some that would prefer wearing women’s watches over others.
True enough, a watch is not only used as a fashion accessory, but it can also be used for practical purposes as well.
Mother’s day is just around the corner and you are thinking of buying your mother a watch that she can be proud of.
Fortunately for you, you’ve come to the right article! Today, I am going to be giving you some tips to help you choose the ideal watch for your mom.
Consider the Watch Movement
The first thing that you have to consider when buying a watch for your mom is the watch movement. There are three out there that you can find on the market and these are quartz, mechanical, and automatic. Right off the bat, I will not talk about mechanical watches because they are impractical, especially since you have to manually wind the mechanism for its timekeeping feature to work. But, if your mom loves collecting watches, then be my guest.
Anyway, an automatic watch is more expensive than a quartz watch simply because it has much better craftsmanship. Watch makers have spent a lot of hours in manufacturing the perfect automatic watch and if your mother has a knack for horology, she would certainly appreciate it.
However, not all people have a lot of money to spend, so I would point you towards a quartz watch instead. Quartz watches do not require anything mechanical but instead, would rely on batteries for power.
Quartz watches are watches that either have analog or digital displays. But, in most cases, I would recommend an analog watch more than a timepiece that has a digital display.
Choose the Right Case Size
Giving your mother an oversized watch is a huge no-no. You want her to wear a timepiece that suits her physique and that is why you have to measure her wrist first so that you can buy a perfectly-sized watch.
As a standard, women who are on the petite side should have a watch that has 20-24mm case diameter. Women who have larger wrists should go for a watch that is sized 26-30mm.
Find the Right Strap Material
For the most part, metal and leather straps are common in the market. Generally, you want to give your mom something that is comfortable to wear for long periods of time.
A watch with a metal strap is more stylish than a leather strap, but it might also not be ideal to wear for longer periods of time, at least of course if she is wearing one that truly fits her wrist. A NATO strap might be good from a comfort standpoint but not a lot of women love wearing fabric watchbands.
Unless your mom is sporty or an active individual, it is best that you go for a minimalist style without all of those bells and whistles. Not only can you save a lot of money in the process but a simpler watch is easier to pair with her other clothes as well.
